The use of 3D metal printing technology in the production of tools
Description
Current status of the project
- Renovation of mold parts - internally with DED (Direct Energy Deposition) technology on a LaserTec 125 Hybrid machine
- Metallic 3D print using PBF (Powder Bed Fusion) technology - in cooperation with the VW group and universities
Vision
- Combination of materials for cooling channels production of a foundry mold
Benefit
- Renovation of mold shapes in three steps on the LaserTec 125 Hybrid machine with time and financial savings
- Quick response to changes and validation tests
- Production of parts with conformal cooling (complicated shapes of cooling channels)
- Production of pre-series and trial parts

Optical measurement of moldings, finished tools, digitization of castings
Description
Current state of the art
- Measurements on touch coordinate measuring systems
- Optical measurement using a manually operated device ATOS III
Benefit
- In duplex mode, the measurement speed is more than twice as fast as systems working with a single scan head

The design, construction and production of pressure molds and dies cannot be done without the use of virtual simulations.
Description
Current state of the art
Productive use of simulations: filling/solidification/temperature balance/stress analysis
Current fidelity of simulations approx. 85-90%Benefit
Reduction of waste
Product quality improvement, tact optimization, cost reduction

Sheet metal drawing simulation
Description
Current state of the art
The design of the pressing process, its verification by simulation of forming in all operations, or proposal of a process change or optimization of the geometry of the body molding
Carrying out the simulation in several optimization loops with the aim of achieving the highest process certainty.
The results of the forming simulations correspond to 80-90% of the real results from practice (insufficient prediction of dimensional stability due to springing and surface defects)Vision
Achieving more accurate simulation results (with the aim of achieving real values in practice > 90%)
The use of stochastic simulations that better describe the effect of changes in important variable parameters in the pressing process (e.g. friction, material properties, holding force)
Achieving dimensional “Mark 3” for the first drop piece from the new set of pressing tools in series conditions based on the simulations performed
Creation of prerequisites in the forming simulation for the use of follow-up virtual verification of the edging process or welding simulations in the field of assembly of body panel parts - Radek FáborskýVirtual techniques - welding lines

Virtual handover of welding lines into operation
Description
State of the art prior to virtual commissioning
Off-line robot programming for welding operations only
The control software of the welding line is debugged only after the construction of the line
Smaller time span for tuning the quality of manufactured partsImplementation status
Fully productive virtual commissioning since 2014
Robotic simulation and virtual commissioning in one software
The control software of the line is debugged before the construction of the line is completed
Off-line programming of robots including manipulation of parts and technological operations
More time after commissioning of the welding line for production quality tuning - Ing. Petr Svoboda3D - printing
