Using 3D printing of plastic parts and sand molds.

The 3D printing technology of plastic parts is used in the Tool Shop to produce prototype parts even before the final forming, welding or casting tools are made. This technology is also used in the production of shaped parts of measuring and welding jigs, where it significantly shortens the lead time of their production. Another important application is the use of 3D printed parts to test welding jigs even before the original moldings are delivered, which makes it possible to reduce the production time of the first pre-series cars by about two weeks.

The 3D Sand Print method is used for direct printing of sand molds for cast parts of press tools and welding jigs. Until now, it was always necessary to first make a combustible polystyrene model of the casting and mold it in a sand molding compound. Now the sand mold is printed directly. This significantly shortened the production time, increased the cleanliness and accuracy of the casting. As a result, the weight of the raw casting was reduced and the post-processing time was shortened. So far, the largest casting made by the Sand Print method measured 3.55 m and weighed 2,350 kg.
